Devilbend Reserve Planning

Issues Paper

Parks Victoria in conjunction with the Devilbend Advisory Group has prepared an Issues Paper to raise issues and prompt discussion on proposed access and recreation in Devilbend Reserve.  Responses to these issues will be dealt with in the Devilbend Reserve Draft Management Plan, which will be released in September 2008.  Parks Victoria will invite submissions on the Draft Plan while it is on public exhibition for 60 days.  Parks Victoria invites feedback on the proposals identified in this paper.

Feedback can be sent to Devilbend@parks.vic.gov.au or

While issues associated with access and recreation are closely related, the document will first address overall access, including the provision of visitor sites and trails. The second part of the paper will address specific recreational activities such as bushwalking, horse riding and fishing.

Planning

On Sunday 25 November 2007, 72 enthusiastic members of the community participated in a high energy interactive workshop to help shape the future of Devilbend Reserve.  The group worked through a process called the "Planning Web" to help shape some key outcomes for the reserve.  The results of the workshop are presented in the attached document which will be used to help provide valuable input into the Draft Management Plan.

Devilbend Reserve - Report on Community Workshop

Devilbend Advisory Group
A community advisory group has been established by Parks Victoria to provide input into the Devilbend Reserve management plan, which will establish a framework for the future management of one of Victoria's newest Reserves.

The advisory group includes representatives from local government, conservation groups, recreational users, ecotourism businesses, Indigenous representatives and National Trust.

The key function of the advisory group is to advise in the development of the plan; this will include providing information on the values of the parks, and to advise on threats and issues for management through discussions with planning staff. The group will also play a vital role in linking Parks Victoria to the broader community.
